Tesla Motors India & Energy Pvt Ltd is registered with a paid-up capital of Rs 100,000 and an authorised capital of Rs 15 lakh. Tesla’s India entry in the state of Karnataka is officially marked by this announcement. However, it will be very interesting to see if the company would set up its manufacturing base in Karnataka or will it get pursued away by some other state.

The Indian consumers who wanted Tesla since 2016 don’t have to wait much longer now as the delivery of the cars are to start from this year onwards. The road transport minister Nitin Gadkari had confirmed earlier that the delivery of these cars would start from 2021.

The chief minister of Karnataka, B S Yediyurappa tweeted a welcoming announcement which he deleted later on. The tweet said that Karnataka would be the state to lead India’s journey towards Green Mobility from the front. The operations of Tesla, an electric vehicle manufacturer, will soon initiate its operations in India through Bengaluru’s R&D unit. He welcomed Elon Musk to Karnataka, India and wished him very best.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tesla Motor’s plant in San Jose where he had met Elon Musk it took over five years for the company to make some move for the start of Indian innings. Just after 10 months of PM Modi’s visit to Tesla’s plant Union minister of road transport, highways and shipping Nitin Gadkari had visited its manufacturing plant where the EV maker desired to make India a manufacturing hub. Tesla’s such a big decision to set up an office in Bangalore came as a booster for the state of Karnataka which already is home to Mahindra Electric and Anther Energy which are the two EV industry’s energetic manufacturers. Looking at the urge of governments to reduce vehicle pollution in India Tesla is going to become a big kick start for the country.
